Step 3 Get Active

We will ensure that our students are physically active for at least 30 minutes during the school day.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, students who are physically active tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance and classroom behavior.  Schools can help their students become more active by focusing on three key areas:

  1. Regular physical education classes that teach the knowledge and skills for a lifetime of healthful physical activity
  2. Daily recess (with a focus on active play)
  3. Brief classroom physical activity breaks. Try these ideas from the Fuel Up to Play 60 or the American Health Association’s Physically Active lists.
